European Music Collective at Kintai Music Festival

The European Music Collective is looking for composers and composers/performers who wish to create a new work to be rehearsed and premiered by the collectives ensemble.
The European Music Collective’s ensemble is consisting of a rotating group of musicians, wo are working primarily within the intersection of improvised and contemporary music.
Its members come from diverse musical backgrounds, including education in classical music, jazz and free improvisation. However the ensemble does not aim to reproduce these traditions. Instead, it creates a space where different backgrounds can meet and develop into something new.
Who can apply?
Composers
For applicants who will not attend the festival. Submit a work or proposal to be rehearsed and premiered by the ensemble.
Composers / Performers
For applicants who wish to perform with the ensemble and participate in the festival. We are looking for musicians with a strong background in improvised music who are interested in the collective work of the ensemble, not only in presenting their own piece. Composer/performers will also perform other works and improvisations. Please note: composer/performer applications are not open to pianists or drummers.
What are we looking for?
There is no formal genre requirement. However we are welcoming:
· fully or partially notated works · graphic or alternative notation
· open scores · experimental approaches
A finished work submitted for selection must not yet have been premiered.

Full ensemble
A. up to 5 min
B. up to 12 min
C. up to 20 min
Smaller groups
A. up to 5 min
B. up to 10 min
Ensemble
Approximate instrumentation:
4 winds (flute, clarinet, trombone, saxophone)
4 strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass)
accordion · electric guitar · piano
Final instrumentation will be confirmed for selected proposals. Exact rehearsal and performance dates will be communicated to selected participants.
Selection Criteria
· Overall clarity of the proposal
· Artistic coherence and potential for collaboration
· Feasibility within a one-week residency, alongside other pieces
Practical information
For selected composer/performer:
· accommodation provided
· no composition or performance fee
· meals, travel and local/personal expenses not covered
· participants requested to bring their own instrument
· selected participants will be asked to pay a fee of 25 Euro
